Sligo Rovers to use English FA headquarters for pre-season games



Sligo Rovers manager John Russell is taking his first team squad to the headquarters of the English Football Association later this month as part of the team’s preparations for the new |League of Ireland season.

The club confirmed on Tuesday its pre-season schedule – and it will include a weekend training camp at St George’s Park, where Gareth Southgate’s England team normally base themselves for home training sessions.

While there Rovers will play two friendly games against the under-21 sides of Stoke City and Nottingham Forest.

Rovers returned to pre-season training last week – with defender Garry Buckley resuming light training as he continues his rehab from a cruciate ligament injury sustaining during the team’s Europa Conference League run last summer.

The SSE Airtricity League Premier Division season for Rovers will begin on Saturday, February 18th, with a home game against defending champions Shamrock Rovers.
