Donegal bow out of McKenna Cup after Monaghan loss

Donegal concluded their 2023 Dr McKenna Cup campaign on Wednesday with a narrow 0-15 to 2-7 loss to last year’s winners Monaghan at a very wet Ballybofey.

St Naul’s clubman (and former Finn Harps goalkeeper) Gavin Mulreaney made his senior intercounty debut.

In the night’s other games, Ulster champions Derry drew with Tyrone which was enough to ensure both teams qualify for this weekend’s semi-finals.

Cavan topped Section C with a five-point win over Armagh at Kingspan Breffni.

Donegal manager Paddy Carr spoke to Ocean FM Sport’s Paddy McGill after the game.
