84 people awaiting admission at North West hospitals



84 people were awaiting  admission at the two main North West hospitals this morning.

 

34 were waiting at Sligo University Hospital while a further 50 were waiting at Letterkenny.

 

Nationally, the number waiting is 631.

 

The Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation have today called on the HSE to do everything necessary to protect the physical and mental wellbeing of nurses and midwives.

 

INMO General Secretary Phil Ní Sheaghdha said that hospitals have never seen this level of activity at this time of year with high levels of overcrowding impacting care in hospitals large and small.
