Gardai in Sligo encourage domestic abuse victims not to suffer in silence



Gardai in Sligo are encouraging people who are experiencing domestic violence not to suffer in silence.

 

It comes as reports of domestic abuse and calls to helplines tend to escalate over the Christmas period.

 

Gardai are continuing to see an increase in such cases, with around 50,000 reports of domestic abuse made nationally this year.

 

Detective Inspector Siobhan Mollahan of the Garda Protective Services Unit in Sligo, Leitrim and Donegal appealed to anyone who needs assistance over Christmas, do not hesitate to contact Gardai:
