Flag at Sligo County Council flying at half-mast as mark of respect to Prv Seán Rooney



The flags at the offices of Sligo County Council are flying at half-mast today as a mark of respect to Private Seán Rooney as he is laid to rest today.

 

Private Rooney has been remembered as a “national hero”, at his funeral in Co Louth this morning,

 

Hundreds of mourners attended the mass for the 24 year old peacekeeper, who was killed in Lebanon last Wednesday night.

 

Prv Rooney was remembered as a family man, who adored his fiance Holly McConnalogue.

 

In a statement read from the altar by Fr Derek Ryan, Holly said she always felt safe with Sean and he made her believe she could do or be anything.
