Vulnerable children to be impacted by withdrawal of school meals



A Leitrim councillor is warning that vulnerable children will be placed at risk if the country’s largest supplier of school meals is forced to walk away from the provision of free meals to students.

Fresh Today, which provides school meals to 80,000 students, says suppliers will have to drop out due to rising inflation and low payment rates.

Suppliers get 60 cent for each pupil for breakfast, €1.40 for lunch and €1.90 for dinner.
