All-Stars edged out by Eanna in Saturday night thriller

A three-pointer on the final buzzer from visitors DBS Eanna broke EJ Sligo All-Stars hearts in Saturday night’s Superleague game at the Mercy College gym as the Dubliners won a dramatic contest by 93 to 90.

An understrength All-Stars team produced a gutsy display on the night, coming from 12 points down midway through the third quarter to lead by two with sixty seconds left on the clock.

However, Eanna managed to produce a couple of late scores to snatch victory.

The home side were missing three of the marquee players, American Greg Pollen, team captain Jamie Hayes and Andy McGeever but nonetheless push in-form Eanna hard throughout the contest.

In the closing quarter, some exquisite three-pointers from O’Reilly and Child help the All-Stars gain the lead for the first time in the game.

Then came the dramatic closing moments as Eanna managed to find late scores – and then a winning three-pointer with the last move of the match as the buzzer hit zero.
