Sligo farming official hopeful new Agri regulator will be a game changer



A Sligo farming official is hopeful that the appointment of a new Agri regulator will be of a major asset to all farmers.

Donegal TD and Minister for Agriculture Minister Charlie McConalogue will seek Cabinet approval today for the appointment of a regulator.

The Regulator will have powers to investigate things like late payments to farmers, misuse of trade secrets and unfair contract changes.

Speaking to Ocean FM News, Sligo farmer and Chairperson of the Irish Beef and Lamb Association, Gerard Pilkington says he is hopeful the regulator will be able to bring about the changes across the agriculture sector:
