Events to take place in Sligo to highlight violence against women



A number of events will take place in Sligo today to highlight violence against women.

 

The Sligo Traveller Support Group have organised the events to coincide with the 16 Days of Action to end violence against Women and Girls an annual international campaign which runs  around the world

Special events will take place at St Anne’s Church in Cranmore while a candle light vigil at City Hall will be held in memory of all victims of domestic violence.

 

Mental Health Worker with Sligo Traveller Support Group Jamie Murphy says today event is aimed at highlighting the dangers that women face in society regardless of their background
