A Sligo Fianna Fail Cllr has claimed that the road network in Sligo has suffered from years of neglect and is urgently calling on the Government to do more.
It comes as Sligo has the largest rate of road fatalities per capita, according to new data.
The county has recorded eight road traffic deaths per 100 thousand of the population.
That figure is six times higher than the rate last year.
