St Molaise Gaels bow out of Connacht

There was disappointment for Sligo intermediate football champions St Molaise Gaels in Saturday’s Connacht club football quarter-final as they lost out to Dunmore MacHales of Galway at Tuam Stadium on a final scoreline of 1-10 to 0-8.

On the day, Dunmore were full value for their win.

Molaise, without their injured Sligo under-20 starlet Jack Davitt, struggled for scores from play, with half their points tally coming from placed balls.

Dunmore led by 1-5 to 0-3 at half-time with the Galway goal coming just before the interval – and it would prove to be a key score.

The north Sligo men made every attempt to close the gap in second-half but Dunmore managed to control the second 30 minutes and, despite being reduced to 14 players in the closing quarter, they ran out five point winners at the final whistle.
