Latest homeless figures for North West ‘alarming’



Latest homeless figures for the North West show a 225% year on year increase in the number of homeless children in the region.

 

The data shows that 149 individuals including 39 child dependents were provided with Local Authority managed emergency accommodation in counties Donegal, Leitrim, and Sligo, during the Week of 19-25 September 2022.

 

The Monthly homeless statistics also show that 56 adults were accommodated in Sligo, and 54 households were accommodated in Donegal/Leitrim.

 

While the number of homeless adults in Sligo only increased by 2, the Donegal/Leitrim region experienced a 46% increase in official homelessness.
