The 1972 Munich Olympics were remembered less about the sport – and more about the terrorist attack in the Olympic village which left 11 Israeli athletes and coaches dead.

Yet – the Games marked a key milestone in the career of a Leitrim distance runner and a Leitrim Athletics family.

Eddie Leddy competed in the men’s 3000 metres steeplechase that summer.

The Leddy brothers joined Austin O’Callaghan on Thursday’s ‘Final Whistle’.
