Mohill knock Ballinamore out of Leitrim SFC championship

Last year’s beaten county finalists Mohill exacted revenge on county champions Ballinamore Seán O’Heslin in the Leitrim Connacht Gold senior football championship on Saturday evening with a deserved 2-15 to 1-11 victory.

A whirlwind start by Mohill during which they scored 2-4 in the opening quarter, laid the foundations for this win.

Mohill are managed this year by Sligo’s Eamonn O’Hara and have already collected the Division 1 league title.

Their prize for Saturday’s win is a semi-final meeting against Leitrim Gaels, who’ve won all four of their championship matches to date.

In Saturday’s other quarter-final in Carrick-on-Shannon, St Mary’s were comfortable 2-15 to 0-11 winners over Aughawillan.
