Manorhamilton campaigner urges Oireachtas committee to push AIB on two tier banking claims

A campaigner that is calling on AIB to restore full cash services to the branch in Manorhamilton says the Oireachtas Committee that Bank is appearing before today should use the opportunity to encourage them to do a U-turn on their decision to change the outlet to a cashless branch.

AIB will to appear before an Oireachtas Committee today, where the bank’s previous plan to go cash-less at a number of branches across the country is set to be discussed.

In July, the bank announced it ‘got it wrong’ when it announced that 70 of its branches including outlets in Tubbercurry, Ballyshannon and Killybegs would no longer offer cash services.

However it subsequently made a U-turn on its decision, due to ‘public unease’.

Speaking to the Ocean FM newsroom, Andy Smith says the communities where AIB have refused to do a U-turn are feeling they are being discriminated against.
