Sligo’s Brian Colsh selected for senior World Rowing Championships

Ballymote rower Brian Colsh has been selected by Team Ireland for the senior World Rowing Championships in the Czech Republic later this month.

Colsh, a student at NUI Galway, will compete in the men’s single sculls.

In all, 13 crews have been chosen to row for Ireland at the championships.

The team includes Sanita Puspure (Women’s double sculls) and the Cork duo of Paul O’Donovan and Fintan McCarthy, who will be defending their lightweight double sculls title.

Colsh won a bronze medal at the recent World under-23 championships in Italy in the double sculls.

His team-mate in that event, Konan Pazzaia (Queen’s) is also picked on the Irish team  but he will compete alongside Philip Doyle in the heavyweight double sculls this time around.

The 2022 World Rowing Championships run from September 18-25th in Racice, Czech Republic.
