Sligo showjumper helps Ireland win silver medal

Sligo showjumper Kevin Gallagher helped Ireland to a runners-up finish at Sunday’s Longines EEF Series Final in Warsaw, Poland.

Ballygawley native Gallagher along with Thomas Ryan, Trevor Breen and Eoin McMahon added to an already impressive season of results by finishing second behind winners Italy.

Ireland were one of eleven teams who qualified for the Longines EEF Series Final, which is organised by the European Equestrian Federation (EEF), in order to provide young talented riders, as well as up-and-coming horse and rider combinations and emerging European nations, with a chance to gain experience and improve technically at top level shows.

Gallagher is a former Sports Scholarship student at ATU Sligo, completed two impressive clear rounds with The Irish Sport Horse Ballypatrick Flamenco to help Ireland claim a podium finish.

The 25-year-old was crowned Irish National Show Jumping Champions for 2021 aboard the same horse.
