No Donegal nominations for Football All-stars

Kerry’s All-Ireland senior football title success in 2022 has been acknowledged with 12 nominations for this year’s football All-Star Awards.

Beaten finalists Galway have received eight nominations, Ulster champions Derry get seven.

The breakdown of the list of 45 across 11 counties is as follows: Kerry 12, Galway eight, Derry seven, Dublin six, Armagh five, Cork two and one each for Clare, Kildare, Limerick, Mayo and Monaghan.

Donegal have received no nominations despite reaching the Ulster final this year, which they lost to Rory Gallagher’s Derry by a point after extra-time.

All-Ireland final Player of the Match David Clifford, along with the Galway duo of Shane Walsh and Killian McDaid, have been shortlisted for Footballer of the Year. T he Footballer and Young Footballer of the Year awards voted on exclusively by the inter-county players themselves.

All-Stars will be presented at a black-tie banquet in Dublin’s Convention Centre on Friday, October 28th.

The hurling team will be announced live on the night with the football team being released publicly 24 hours earlier.
