Sligo go top of Connacht Senior League



Sligo are in prime position to lift this season’s Connacht Senior League title following Saturday’s 16-7 victory over Galwegians at Hamilton Park in Strandhill.

Both teams were unbeaten going into Saturday’s game.

Second-half tries from Matthew Early and Shane O’Hehir proved to be the decisive scores.

Sligo’s final Connacht Senior League match is in Dubarry Park Athlone against Buccaneers on Sep 17th. A positive result in that match would guarantee the title.

Elsewhere, Sligo’s juniors were beating by Carrick Rugby in Pool A of the Curley Cup on Sunday by 41 points to 17.

Cillian Mc Meekin (2) and Ken Pearson in his first game for juniors, got the Sligo tries.
