Sligo Councillor angered by decision to abandon promised review of testimony from by mother and baby home survivors

A  Sligo Councillor says the decision taken to abandon a promised independent review of testimony given by mother and baby home survivors as ‘scandalous and a disgrace’.

Sligo Strandhill Councillor Gino O Boyle was reacting to the news that the Children’s Minister Roderic O’Gorman will not appoint an international human rights expert to re-examine the written testimony given to the Mother and Baby Homes Commission.

The Solidarity People Before Profit elected representative says he will table a motion on the issue at an upcoming County council meeting in Sligo.

Cllr O Boyle has questioned why a number of local TD’s in the Sligo Leitrim constituency are not questing the Minister decision.
