Aughanagh Celtic reinstated to Sligo-Leitrim soccer league

Aughanagh Celtic FC have been reinstated to Sligo-Leitrim’s Southern Hotel Super League for the 2022-23 season.

The club had missed the registration deadline for the new season due to what Aughanagh described as an ‘administration error’ on its part.

The initial draft fixture list excluded Aughanagh but the club appealed to league officials to allow them back in.

The other junior soccer clubs from the Super League and Premier League were asked to vote on whether to allow Aughanagh back into the competition.

It’s understood that the majority of clubs voted in favour of Aughanagh’s reinstatement – and following a meeting between club officials and Sligo-Leitrim league secretary Noel Kennedy on Friday evening, it’s emerged that Aughanagh will take their place in the Southern Hotel Super League, which is scheduled to begin on Sunday, September 4th.

As there are 13 teams in the Super League, Aughanagh will have a bye on the opening weekend of games.

Their first league match will be at home to Arrow Harps on the weekend of September 10/11th.
