Animal welfare warden severely bitten by dog in Leitrim



An animal welfare warden has been severely bitten by a dog in Leitrim.

 

The incident happened yesterday in Aughawillan, Ballinamore.

 

In a statement, Leitrim Animal welfare said that the male collie appeared to be under 1 years old and was tied up for what they believe to be quite some time.

 

They were called as the collie had escaped by chewing the rope and started attacking cows in the area.

 

Leitrim Animal Welfare has subsequently issued a warning against tying up dogs for long periods of time as it can lead to aggression.
