HPSC records 3 cases of Monkeypox in the North West.



Three cases of Monkeypox have been reported in the Donegal/ Sligo/ Leitrim West Cavan area.

 

Only counties Roscommon, Galway and Mayo, have reported no case as of yet.

 

The most recent HPSC report states that there have been 101 cases of monkeypox nationwide. all cases recorded have been found in males and the average age of men recorded is currently 36.

 

Monkeypox spreads through close contact, including contact with the skin rash of someone with monkeypox. The risk of spread within the community in general, is very low.

 

Worldwide the centre for disease control and prevention has recorded just above 31,000 cases of the virus killing 12.
