Record LIS funding announced for Leitrim

It’s hoped that today announcement of LIS funding in Leitrim will address the long waiting list that currently exists within the county for applicants seeing to be approved for such schemes.

Funding for the Local Improvement Scheme has been doubled to €22 million as part of Our Rural Future.

The Minister for Rural and Community Development, Heather Humphreys TD, has confirmed Leitrim will see a major increase with €729,158 being allocated to Leitrim Co Council under this round,

€351,880 was allocated earlier this year bringing a total to over one million euro for the county this year.

Cllr Frank Dolan is the chairperson of the Manorhamilton Municipal District of Leitrim County Council he says the latest allocation of funding will be welcome news to many that are living rurally and require the funding to improve their transport infrastructure
