Local athletes on Ireland team for European Championships

Several athletes from the north west have been selected for the Ireland team to compete in this month’s European Athletics Championships in Munich.

North Sligo AC’s Christopher O’Donnell is picked for the men’s 400 metres, while a host of Donegal athletes have also made the team.

These include: Mark English in the 800m, Brendan Boyce in the men’s 50k walk, Letterkenny’s Ann Marie McGlynn in the women’s marathon (who’s coached by Sligo’s Emmet Dunleavy) and Finn Valley AC’s Eilish Flanagan (a native of Tyrone) who will compete in the 3000m steeplechase.

Tir Chonaill AC’s Kelly McGrory is also named as a non-travelling reserve for the 4x400m relay.
