A man has died after falling in the Devil’s Chimney area of Glencar on the Sligo/Letirim border.
It’s understood that the man, who was in his 60s and from Galway, suffered a fall after becoming disorientated yesterday evening.
It’s believed that the casualty strayed from the path, fell into a nearby stream, sustaining a head injury as a result.
He was treated at the scene by Mountain Rescue Personnel and hauled through a field on a stretcher where emergency services including the Rescue 118 helicopter were on standby.
However, he was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later.
