Finn Harps knocked out of FAI Cup



Finn Harps were knocked out of the Extra.ie FAI Cup on Friday night when they went down 3-1 at home to last season’s beaten finalists Bohemians at Finn Park.

First-half goals from Declan McDaid and Josh Kerr established a 2-0 lead for the visitors.

Eric McWoods did pull a goal back for Harps just before the break but Bohemians restored their two-goal advantage early in the second-half when Junior netted following a handling error by new Harps goalkeeper James McKeown.

McKeown, who made 500 appearances at his previous club, Grimsby Town, was guilty of two mistakes which lead to the second and third Bohs goals.

Sligo native Gary Boylan, signed on loan from Galway United just before the transfer window closed, also made his debut for Harps on Friday night.

In the night’s other ties, Ulster Senior League side Cockhill Celtic

Shamrock Rovers were 4-0 winners at home to Leinster Senior League side Bangor Celtic.

Sligo Rovers host Wexford in their first round tie at the Showgrounds on Sunday evening (6pm).

The match will be broadcast live on Ocean FM.
