Former election candidate claims creation of safe zones impacts the rights of the public to demonstrate

A north west anti-abortion campaigner says the creating of Safe Access Zones in an attempt to cut out inappropriate protests towards abortion patients and accompanying staff is removing the right of people to demonstrate.

Sean Wynne is the secretary of the Leitrim branch of the Irish catholic association and contested the last general election in the Sligo Leitrim Constituency on the abortion issue in 2019.

The Health Minister is looking to ban protests within 100 metres of a clinic or related healthcare facilities.

The former election candidate says the move impacts the rights of the public.
