A significant amount of Sligo families are reportedly already struggling with back to school costs.
The price of uniforms and books combined with the skyrocketing cost of living is said to be resulting in a year like no other and effectively leaving people at the pin of their collar.
Sligo Sinn Fein Cllr Arthur Gibbons is calling for some of the school costs to be subsided by the Government.
He says that he has been contacted by local people who simply do not know how they will afford to send their children back to school:
