Major investment announced for Killybegs Harbour

10.5 million euro is to be pumped into building a quay development at Killybegs Fishery Harbour Centre in County Donegal.

The Agriculture Minister Charlie McConalogue says it’ll help alleviate congestion at this major port.

The Donegal TD has announced the award of the contract for Smooth Point Extension Completion Works at Killybegs Fishery Harbour Centre.

It’ll see a 120 metre long quay development completed and associated works at Smooth Point.

The Minister says Killybegs Harbour is Ireland’s premier fishing port and as such can be exceptionally busy.

He says this project will see the long-waited completion of additional quay space in the harbour and will alleviate congestion during the peak fishing season at this major port.

It’s expected works will start in a matter of weeks and the project will be substantially completed within 7 months.
