Sharp Dail exchange as summer recess in sight



The Tánaiste has insisted that the Government will be working throughout July with the exception of the Dail chamber.

 

The Dail is heading into summer recess today until September with the Budget set to be brought forward thereafter.

 

However, concern was expressed in the Dail this afternoon by Donegal Sinn Fein TD Pearse Doherty that workers will continue to struggle with the cost of living over the summer.

 

It comes as latest CSO figures show that prices rose by 9.1% in the year to June 2022, the largest increase in 38 years.

 

In a sharp exchange, Leo Varadkar guaranteed that Ministers will be continuing their duties in the weeks ahead and took a swipe at Deputy Doherty in the process:
