Government looks set to survive no confidence motion



A Donegal Sinn Fein TD is calling for local TDs to back the party’s Dáil motion of no-confidence in the Government.

 

The Government looks set to survive the motion which takes place later today.

 

Donegal TD Joe McHugh will support them from opposition, saying his issue is with the Mica bill not the Government as a whole.

 

Former Fianna Fáil and Sligo Leitrim TD Marc MacSharry also intends to vote confidence in the Government.

 

The vote has been described as a publicity stunt with concern that precious Dail time is being wasted by Sinn Fein.

 

But defending the motion, Deputy Padraig MacLochlainn says the Government must be held to account:
