Leitrim Councillor calls for amount of matching funding to be reduced in new Leader programme

Yesterday’s monthly meeting of Leitrim County Council heard calls for the local Authority to lobby the Minister for Rural and Community Development Heather Humphreys to reduce the amount of match funding that applicants to the new Leader program will have to come up.

The calls were made by Manorhamilton Independent Councillor Felim Gurn who is calling for the amount to be reduced from 25 percent to somewhere in the region of 5 – 10 percent.

The Manorhamilton based business man says new applicants will struggle to fund projects due to high material costs and inflation.
