Leitrim Councillor calls for additional housing to match population growth

A Leitrim Councillor will call on the local Authority at today’s monthly Council meeting to take into consideration the latest census findings when it comes to the proposed level of housing stocks that are available in Leitrim.

The 2022 Census figures are indicating that the population has grown in Leitrim by 9.5%.

As a result of this Kinlough based Councillor Justin Warnock says alarm bells should be ringing in the Local Authority, when it comes to the proposed level of housing that will be constructed under the new County Development Plan.

The Fianna Fail Councillor says there are many areas where there are adequate sewerage systems to accommodate large scale construction.

Cllr Warnock says the level of housing must be increased to cater for the growing population of the County.
