Donegal councillor agrees transparency is needed in the hospitality sector



The Irish Congress of Trade Unions say one third of workers in hospitality aren’t being paid tips.

Legislation is set to be introduced to ensure service charges in bars and restaurants go directly to workers,

The move will stop owners from using the charge for other purposes and make tipping more transparent.

It comes as current working conditions for those in the sector will be raised at an Oireachtas committee today.

Donegal councillor Michael Naughton is General Manager at Clanree Hotel in Letterkenny and he has been speaking with oceanfm news he believes that tips should be given to the people that do the job
