Lauren Cadden wins national senior 200m title



Sligo’s Lauren Cadden produced a sensational run on the opening day of the Irish Life Health National Senior Track & Field Championships at Santry to win the women’s 200 metres title.

Cadden, who’s a sports scholarship student at ATU Sligo, clocked a time of  24.94 seconds in challenging weather conditions to outsprint Irish international Sarah Leahy.

Fellow Sligo AC athlete Finley Daly took silver in the men’s 3000 metres steeplechase final.

Elsewhere on Saturday, Carrick AC Gerard O’Donnell was pipped by Matthew Behan (Crusaders) in the final of the men’s 110 metres hurdles.

Tir Chonaill AC’s Lucy McGlynn finished fourth in the women’s 100 metres hurdles final in a time of 15:04 seconds.
