Leitrim Councillors warn of serious accident waiting to happen at local school



Yesterday’s meeting of the Manorhamilton Municipal District of Leitrim County Council heard warnings that there is every likelihood of a serious accident taking place at Drumlease National School which is situated in Dromahair.

 

 

Fears over such a serious and tragic event occurring have been heightened following a near miss which occurred at the location as recently as last month.

 

 

Councillors Padraig Fallon and Frank Dolan tabled motions on the issue at yesterday’s meeting after representation was made by parents of children attending the school.

 

 

The meeting heard calls for traffic calming measures to be introduced and also discussed the possibility of a lollypop person being employed to monitor the safe crossing of students.
