This week’s meeting of Sligo County Council heard how a report into burial ground facilities in the Sligo area is ongoing.
Land is currently being sought in the Ahamlish and Rosses Point areas and negotiations with landowners have been underway for some time now.
Sligo County Council has stressed that while the process to acquire land is moving in the right direction, it’s a sensitive issue and they have asked for patience until such time as the matter is resolved.
While acknowledging the nature of the situation, Sligo Fianna Fail Cllr Donal Gilroy says it’s time a line was drawn in the sand:
