Local TD warns of the consequences of not adequately looking after carers



There will be more pressure on hospitals and more demand for nursing home places unless home carers are paid more money.

 

That’s according to Deputy Marc MacSharry, who raised the matter in the Dáil last night.

 

He says issue of pay and expenses for carers needs to be dealt with now, before the pressure on hospitals becomes more of a problem later in the year.

 

He criticised the Government for not prioritising the matter in the way that they have dealt with issues such as Covid-19 crisis and the housing of Ukrainian refugees:
