Minister confident minimum unit pricing will be effective here



A Minister of State and Sligo Leitrim TD is confident minimum unit pricing on alcohol will be effective here.

 

This is despite a recent study, carried out by researchers from two universities in England which found that the policy failed to curb problem drinking in Scotland.

 

The study found that there was no clear evidence it dissuaded alcoholics from drinking.

 

The policy was introduced in Ireland in January, and Minister of State Frank Feighan believes that the move will work here based on a number of other relevant studies:
