Sligo County Council has agreed to write to the Government, calling for the introduction of immediate rent freezes.
A number of local rent hike instances were raised at the latest sitting of Sligo County Council, with the rent case in Tubbercurry where the landlord raised the rent by 75% also highlighted.
Sligo People Before Profit Cllr Gino O’Boyle says many people are on edge as to whether they too will face an increase against the backdrop of a cost of living crisis.
