Two motorists who survived fatal Sligo crash fail alcohol & drug test

Two people who survived a weekend crash in County Sligo that resulted in the death of two brothers failed an alcohol and drug test.

The crash happened in Rathcormac on Sunday evening and resulted in the death of both occupants of one car – two men in their 70s.

In a statement today, Gardai in Sligo say that as required by legislation, the drivers of both of the other vehicles were required to provide preliminary roadside tests for driving while intoxicated.

One driver failed a roadside alcohol breath test while a second driver failed a roadside drugs test.

Gardai say that evidential samples will determine the further course of any action in these cases and that they continue to investigate all the circumstances of the three vehicle fatal road traffic collision.
