INMO claim overcrowding is still an issue at Sligo University Hospital



Sligo University Hospital was the joint third most overcrowded hospital in Ireland in the month of May.

 

The number waiting for a bed in Sligo this May was the highest recorded over the last 16 years.

 

The latest figures from the INMO have revealed that there were a total of 761 people waiting for a bed at Sligo University Hospital during the month of May.

 

The figure reflects a significant jump on last year’s number of 285 – a 38% increase.

 

The situation was different in Letterkenny University Hospital.

 

In Letterkenny, there were 74 people waiting for a bed during the month of May.

 

This represents a fall compared with May of last year when there were 128 people waiting – a 42% decrease.
