Sligo Councillor says investing in Regional Airports will avoid chaotic scenes currently being experienced in Dublin



A Sligo Councillor is calling for Investment into regional airports should be ramped up in order to alleviate the pressure that Dublin Airport is currently under.

 

 

The operator of Dublin Airport will present a plan to government this morning on how it will tackle long delays for passengers.

 

 

There have been calls for the army to be brought in to make sure all security gates are open and avoid a repeat this coming bank holiday weekend.

 

 

The Cathaoirleach of Sligo County Council Paul Taylor is calling on the government to adopt a fresh policy of placing more importance on regional airports such as Ireland West Airport and Sligo Airport.

 

The Fianna Fáil Councillor says if more investment was placed in these facilities it would not alone take some pressure of Dublin Airport but would also help to generate more income for the local economy that depends heavily on the tourism and hospitality sectors.
