A lack of action by the government is putting the future of many Post Offices at risk across the North West.
That’s the warning from a member of the Regional Group of TD’s
The future of many post offices is likely to be discussed again in the Dáil this week.
Speculation continuing to increase that a ‘sweetener Payment’ would be made to Postmaster which would encourage them to remain on in their positions.
It’s hoped that the payment which is reported to be between 1,000 and 1200 euro per month will help safeguard the future of many rural post offices.
The Regional Group of TD’s are anxious that the government act quickly and provide this subvention funding immediately to post offices.
Denis Naughten is member of the Regional Group of TD’s and says whereas in theory the proposal sounds encouraging he says no concrete commitments have yet been provided by the government.
