Local TD says the Department of Health wants to engage with Medical Laboratory Scientists Association



A Sligo Leitrim TD says the Department of Health remains committed in engaging with the Medical Laboratory Scientists Association in finding a resolution to their concerns.

 

Medical scientists are back picket line today for two days of industrial action.

 

The HSE’s warning people to expect major disruption in hospitals over the next two days, due to a strike.

 

Up to 30,000 procedures won’t go ahead today and tomorrow, and there’ll be long delays in emergency departments.

 

 

Tony Canavan, the chief executive of the Saolta hospital group which includes hospitals such as Sligo and Letterkenny University Hospitals says it’ll have a very significant impact throughout the country.

 

 

 

 

Speaking in the Dail, Minister of State Frank Feighan says that the Departments hands are somewhat tied as it is bound by an existing pay agreement.
