There were 51 people waiting for a bed at the two main north west hospitals this morning.
42 people were waiting at Sligo University Hospital while a further 9 were waiting at Letterkenny University Hospital.
Nationally, there were 504 patients are without a bed in Irish hospitals today.
In a statement INMO General Secretary, Phil Ní Sheaghdha said that this type of overcrowding and hospitals being at constant full capacity should not be the norm and perpetual “winter-like” conditions in hospitals should not be a year-round occurrence.
