Armagh snatch Ulster LGFA senior title from Donegal

Armagh won a third consecutive Ulster Ladies Football title as a Kelly Mallon goal in the final minute of extra-time gave them a dramatic 3-17 to 2-19 victory over Donegal in Sunday’s pulsating final at Clones.

Donegal, inspired by Geraldine McLaughlin who contributed 1-11, appeared to have victory in their grasp both towards the end of normal time and in the closing moments of extra-time.

However, Armagh’s captain, Mallon, converted a free to force extra-time – and then produced the matchwinning goal with seconds remaining on the clock.

Listen back to how the climax of Sunday’s final was described by the Ocean FM Sport commentary team of Martin McHugh and Roisín Friel.

Despite Sunday’s loss, Donegal can still look forward to the All-Ireland series of the TG4.

They will be a three-time group alongside the winners of next weekend’s Munster final and Waterford in the Group D.

Two teams from this game will qualify for the All-Ireland quarter-finals.

Donegal’s first match will be away to Waterford on June 11th.
