Cartron United qualify for Glasshouse Cup final while St. Johns to face Benbulben

Cartron United qualified for the final of the 2022 Glasshouse Hotel Cup final following a 2-1 victory over Manor Rangers at Mac Sharry Park on Sunday morning.

There was little between the sides in the opening half with Alan Hickey (Manor Rangers) and Donal Gallagher (Cartron United) both having chances.

A strong start to the second half from Cartron was rewarded on 57 minutes as Ryan Lynch finished a strong team move

Manor Rangers equalised twelve minutes later through Diarmuid Giblin. Both sides had chances to win but it was Cartron United that got that elusive second with Enda McGowan heading into the back of the net.

After the game, Ocean FM Sport’s Dónal Ryan got the thoughts of Cartron United joint manager Des Kavanagh:

Cartron United await the winners of the second semi-final between MCR and Carbury in the final.

Sligo Southern Hotel Super League champions Carbury recorded a comprehensive victory over Cliffoney Celtic in the quarter final.

In the Frank Kennedy Cup Final, St John’s will meet Benbulben FC in two weeks’ time.

From 3-1 down, St John’s reached the final following goals from Darragh McGoldrick (2), Steven Armstrong and Michael Doyle against Carrick Town to win 4-3.

Benbulben scored 4 goals of their own as they defeated Ballygawley Celtic 4-2.
