HSE need to take Lyme disease ‘seriously’ says Sligo Councillor

A Sligo Councillor says the HSE and Department of Health need to take Lyme Disease ‘seriously.’

Yesterday was the beginning of a month long awareness campaign by sufferers of the disease.

Many have to travel abroad to the likes of Germany for adequate treatment which can cost tens of thousands of euro.

Sligo Independent Councillor, Marie Casserly previously raised at county level the need for warning signs to be erected at Coillte sites, which has since been done.

She says it’s important people get a diagnosis as quickly as possible.
